Everett Reads Jacqueline Woodson's brown girl dreaming in October!

20660824.jpg

18 students joined us on October 8th to discuss brown girl dreaming.  Woodson's memoir is an evocative read about her early childhood growing up in Ohio, South Carolina and New York.  Written in free verse, this 300+ page book moves quickly.  If you're interested in learning about the strength of a longtime African American family, the beauty of language and the innocence of a little girl growing up, check out this book.

Banned Book Month: Sept./Oct.

In September and October we celebrate our freedom to read and access information--all ideas even unpopular ones.  It is time to think about how censorship has caused harm, hurt and damage in the world.  Check out the display in they library.
